Selected Highlights from the 96th Academy Awards and Red Carpet (Oscars 2024)
According to Cinemadrame, at the 96th Academy Awards (Oscars 2024), some of Hollywood’s brightest stars, including Cillian Murphy, Margot Robbie, and Emma Stone, graced the red carpet. However, during parts of the event, “Messi,” the dog from Anatomy of a Fall, stole the spotlight.
Host Jimmy Kimmel humorously remarked during the ceremony: “Although he’s a dog, Messi might have delivered the best performance of the year in Anatomy of a Fall. He acted out an overdose scene. I haven’t seen a French actor vomit like that since Gérard Depardieu.” Prior to the event, The Hollywood Reporter noted that objections from some studios had led to Messi being banned from attending the ceremony.
The 96th Oscars concluded with Oppenheimer dominating, winning in seven categories, including Best Picture and Best Director for Christopher Nolan.
